herve leger sale After years of stalling and legal battles, Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. has finally settled his debt with the Campaign Finance Board. The check for $61,750 arrived at the board this afternoon, according to both CFB spokesman Eric Friedman. (I also got a heads-up from Laurence Laufer, Espada’s attorney, who the senator told me on Tuesday was taking care of the whole sending-the-check thing). By Tuesday (Aug. 4), Espada was already three days late on his self-imposed Aug. 1 deadline for paying his debt to the CFB - a debt that stems from his unsuccessful 2001 Bronx borough president campaign. The board’s audit was completed in 2006. Espada fought its findings in court, and finally lost in 2008. Espada told me at Tuesday that payment of his CFB fine was “imminent.” Laufer said the herve leger same thing to DN Capitol Bureau Chief Ken Lovett when he picked up the story, which ran Aug. 5. Just this morning, the DN editorial board called on the CFB to garnish Espada’s Senate salary - a power the board indeed possesses. And, poof! The check appeared! How serendipitous. The check is actually not from Espada’s campaign committee, but rather from the committee treasurer, Kenneth Brennan. That seems off, but Friedman explained a committee, a candidate and the committee treasurer are all jointly and severally liable under the campaign finance law. As Lovett reported, Espada also herve leger cheap still owes the state Board of Elections $10,309 in fines for failing to file routine financial disclosure reports. He since filed eight disclosure reports on June 19 and an additional 11 cheap herve leger on June 23, although they omitted some key information. In addition to the $10,309 in fines, Espada still owes the state board 23 disclosure reports, but is fighting those state fines.
